ボランティアはじめ

プノンペンに夜着。一泊後、明朝からそのままシェムリアップに向かった。

I arrived at Phnom Penh. One night later, I headed to Siem Reap in the morning.

この頃はちょっと焦ってたから、あまり観光する気になれず先を急いでて。。。観光だけじゃなくて、ボランティアをする、っていうのが、この旅のメインでもあったから。それが、やっとシェムリアップで体験できるわけです。
といっても、JICAのように発展途上国への国際協力、援助的なことやろうというのではなく、あくまでも自分のためにボランティア。

These days I felt impatient, so I didn’t feel to go to sightseeing. I’ve rushed ahead…  The aim of this traveling isn’t just sightseeing but working as a volunteer. Finally I can do it in Siem Reap.
Though I say it, it isn’t international cooperation and support such as JICA but for me.

ボランティア先は、Workawayという、ボランティアのSNSみたいなものを利用して探してます。いろんな種類のボランティア先から好みのものを探して申し込むことができ、労働の代わりにホストからはベッドと食事を提供してもらえる、といったあんばい。
いろんな仕事を体験したい、旅費を節約したい、その土地の暮らしぶりを知りたい、と思ってた自分には最適のサービス。
(他にも同じようなサービスで、helpxやWWOOFというのもあります)

I use Workaway which is a kind of SNS to find place of volunteer. You can choose and apply it in many kind of the places of volunteer. And you can get bed and meals instead of labor.
It’s suitable service for me because I want to experience many jobs, save travel expense, and know the lifestyle in the place.
(There are similar services besides it. For example, helpx, WWOOF, and so on.)

このWorkawayを利用してシェムリアップのとある村のNGO「ECC」にて、3週間ほど日本語を教えることになっていた。
※某英会話教室とは無関係です。

I’ll teach Japanese language in a village in Siem Reap. The name of the organization is ‘ECC‘. (It’s also NGO.)

ECCに着くと、歓迎していただき、夕飯を用意してもらえた。うまい。
これから3週間、ここでの生活が始まります。

In ECC, they welcomed me, and treated me dinner. delicious.
The life in ECC for 3 weeks from today started.
